Free Shuttle Bus to Transport Greenfield-area Walkers to, from Rays of Hope

SPRINGFIELD — Greenfield-area residents who wish to participate in this year’s annual Rays of Hope – A Walk and Run Toward the Cure of Breast Cancer, taking place in Springfield, can board the ‘Pink Party Bus’ offering a complimentary ride to Springfield and back on Sunday, Oct. 25.

“Planning and organizing an event that brings 24,000 participants together for the Rays of Hope Walk and 8K Run is a tremendous undertaking. This year we have consolidated our efforts back into a single Rays of Hope event,” said Jane Albert, vice president of Development at Baystate Health. “Since its inception, the Rays of Hope has and will continue to support breast-cancer patients at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, as well as breast-cancer programs and services in Franklin County.”

She added that a walk was introduced as part of this year’s annual Wheeling for Healing bicycle fund-raiser to benefit cancer services at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

Advance registration is required for the bus in order to ensure there are enough to accommodate those traveling to Springfield. Call (413) 794-8001 or e-mail raysofhope@baystatehealth.org to register.

This year Rays of Hope participants can register online for the 22nd annual event at www.baystatehealth.org/raysofhope by using the new, easier-to-use online registration system, where participants can also create their own personal webpage to assist them in their fund-raising efforts.
