Ground Broken For Veterinary Hospital

SOUTH DEERFIELD— A groundbreaking ceremony was held Jan. 12, to mark the beginning of construction of a veterinary emergency referral hospital at Greenfield Road (Routes 5 & 10) in South Deerfield. Participants included the owners, VESH Development LLC, construction management staff from Upton Enterprises, Inc., and a representative from Florence Savings Bank, which is providing project financing as part of an SBA 504 loan.

The nearly 6,000-square-foot hospital, will provide much-needed support to area veterinarians and pet owners during overnight, weekend, and holiday hours, as well as provide 24-hour critical care to cats and dogs requiring extended hospitalization. Specialized surgery services also will be available.

The state-of-the-art facility will include two large surgical suites, a dedicated ICU ward, an isolation ward, a diagnostic lab, a digital radiography and ultrasound as well as a large staff library. Plans also include the eventual addition of an MRI.
