Hospice Program Receives $10,000 Donation From Hospice Shop

NORTHAMPTON — Employees and members of the Volunteer board of the Hospice Shop credit their September 2003 move to a more prominent location for increased sales and visibility. And in early May, Hospice Shop officials presented Carla Braveman, executive director of the VNA & Hospice of Cooley Dickinson with a check for $10,000.

Volunteer comptroller Patrick Warner says another $24,000 was given last year. “Since we have moved to the larger store, we average roughly $300 per day,” he said.

Selling new-to-you clothing, accessories, and small appliances, the Hospice Shop, a store that raises funds for the Hospice program of VNA & Hospice of Cooley Dickinson, is now located at 18 Bridge Street. The Hospice Shop is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations of clothing, accessories, and small household items are welcome.

Anita Flood, board chair and Hospice Shop volunteer, said Northampton area merchants are extremely supportive throughout the year.
