Midwives Offer Appointments at Chicopee Medical Center

CHICOPEE — Certified Nurse Midwives from Midwifery Care of Holyoke (MCH) have begun providing services at Chicopee Medical Center at 262 New Ludlow Road.
“The mission of MCH has always been to serve our community, and the Holyoke Medical Center community includes women in Chicopee, Granby, and South Hadley. We’re excited to bring our services to where they are most needed,” said Liza Winston, certified nurse midwife and MCH service director.
At Chicopee Medical Center, midwives will offer a full range of well woman and obstetrical services, including prenatal, postpartum, and family-planning care. MCH’s certified nurse midwives are bilingual (Spanish and English).
“We value women’s choices and see them as the most important partners in our care,” said Winston. “It is our goal to tailor our care to what women and their families want and need. What’s important to them is important to us.”
For 30 years, Midwifery Care of Holyoke has provided personalized care to women and their families throughout the Pioneer Valley. The practice is dedicated to expanding its reputation of excellence by offering care in Chicopee, said Winston.
MCH now offers services in four locations: Holyoke Health Center, 230 Maple St.; Holyoke Medical Center, 575 Beech St., Suite 501; in downtown Northampton on the fourth floor of Thornes Marketplace on Main Street; and now at Chicopee Medical Center.
MCH midwives deliver babies at the Birthing Center at Holyoke Medical Center, recognized as maintaining one of the lowest cesarean-section rates in the state as well as one of the highest rates of vaginal birth after cesarean section. The Birthing Center continues to offer cutting-edge care with its birthing tub for labor and water births, nitrous oxide as an option for pain management, and a comprehensive array of birthing and postpartum support.
Patients receiving care in Chicopee will have access to all of the midwives within the Midwifery Care of Holyoke group. Both new patients and current patients of MCH are welcome to schedule appointments in the Chicopee office. To make an appointment at any of the four locations, call Midwifery Care of Holyoke at (413) 535-4700.
