Red Cross Chapter Elects Officers

The American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter held its annual elections on Wednesday Oct. 26, at Springfield Country Club in West Springfield and elected their new members and officers for fiscal year 2006.

Former board members re-elected to the board for a first three-year term are: Michael Santoro, Director of Finance and Strategy, Mead Westvaco; Gerry FitzGerald, President, FitzGerald & Mastroianni Advertising; and Daniel P. McDonough, Howard Tabor & Associates.

Elected to their first three-year term are: Chief Gary G. Cassanelli, Springfield Fire Department; Dr. Charles E.

Cavagnaro, CEO and president, Wing Memorial Hospital and Medical Center; Carlos Gonzalez, president and CEO, Latino Chamber of Commerce; William M. Lachenmeyer, vice president, Human Resources, Smith and Wesson; Jay Pratt, Babson Capital Management LLC ; Angelina Ramirez, Stavros Center for Independent Living ; Ira Rubenzahl, president, Springfield Technical Community College; Bruce Ruder, vice president of Marketing and Sales, Health New England.

Officers elected to serve a one year term are:

  • Chair: Frank W. Anderson, Mass Mutual, retired, Disaster Action Team Leader;
  • 1st Vice Chair: Adam Wright, President, Advertus Media;
  • 2nd Vice Chair: Drew Golaski, Communications and Cultural administrator, Big Y Foods;
  • Secretary: Deborah A. Buckley, president, Goss, McLain Insurance Company
  • Treasurer: William O. Trudeau, vice president, Insurance Center of New England.

AstroChemical, Solutia, and the Town of Wilbraham were recognized for the installations of automated external defibrillators in their facilities, and for their commitment to keeping their visitors safe.

Rodney R. Pillard, Mass Mutual (retired) and World Wide Wines, of Longmeadow, John F. Gabranksi, PricewaterhouseCoopers, of Haydenville, and the family of Paul C. MacDonald, president (ret.) Western Mass. Telephone Workers Credit Union of Springfield, received a special citation for exceptional volunteers for their work as volunteers at the Pioneer Valley Chapter.
