Reps. Domb, Philips Recognize National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s State Action Day

BOSTON — State Reps. Mindy Domb and Ted Philips presented a resolution from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society on their annual State Action Day on May 12 at the State House. The resolution, which was co-sponsored by 76 representatives, recognizes the organization for its groundbreaking research into multiple sclerosis (MS) and its work in supporting those living with MS.

Since 1946, the National MS Society has been a driving force of MS research. The organization has invested more than $1 billion into prevention, treatments, and cures, and has supported the development of a robust research workforce at top medical centers, universities, and other institutions throughout the U.S. and abroad. The National MS Society also provides a range of individualized supports and resources for individuals living with MS, ensuring that they are able to live a full and happy life despite their diagnosis.

“I want to thank the MS Society for all of their efforts to support individuals living with MS, their families, and their communities. By building awareness and engaging in public education, the society makes us all smarter and better able to meet the needs created by an MS diagnosis,” Domb said. “For many people, early diagnosis of MS can foster validation, result in early treatment and care, delay progression, and generally improve quality of life. I’m proud to join Rep. Philips and 75 of our colleagues in the Massachusetts House of Representatives to support today’s House resolution, which recognizes May 12 as the annual MS State Action Day.”

Added Philips, “I want to thank the over 70 colleagues who added their names to our first MS advocacy resolution in the House this year. It is great to see such strong public support for advancing research and patient advocacy as we inch closer and closer to finally finding a cure for multiple sclerosis.”
