Rick’s Place to Host Annual Walk, Run, Remember 5K and Community Walk
WILBRAHAM — Rick’s Place, a nonprofit organization that provides free grief support to youth and their families, will host its annual Walk, Run, Remember event on Saturday, April 25 at Minnechaug Regional High School. The family-friendly event includes a 5K run and a 1-mile walk and begins with a welcome gathering just before the 9:30 a.m. race start.
The morning will be emceed by Steve Nagle from Rock 102, helping to kick off a lively and welcoming community event. Participants can also meet Boomer, the mascot of the Springfield Thunderbirds, who will be on hand to applaud runners and walkers.
In addition to the race and walk, families can enjoy free popcorn and donuts, free face painting for children, and plenty of opportunities to gather with friends, remember loved ones, and cheer on participants.
Proceeds from the event support Rick’s Place’s free grief programs for children, teens, and their caregivers who are coping with the death of a loved one. The event offers the community an opportunity to honor and remember loved ones while raising awareness about the impact of grief on young people and families.
Participants of all ages are invited to register to run or walk in support of the organization’s mission. Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for youth ages 17 and under.
