Tarail Appointed to Post at Providence Hospital

HOLYOKE — Mary Tarail, M.D., has been appointed to the post of associate medical director of Geriatric Psychiatry at Providence Behavioral Health Hospital in Holyoke. The appointment is effective immediately.

“I am pleased and proud to make this announcement,” said Les W. Smith, M.D., chief medical officer at the hospital. “An engaging and talented physician, Dr. Tarail’s primary clinical responsibility is caring for patients on our Older Adult Unit.”

Prior to joining the Sisters of Providence Health System, Dr. Tarail served as the inpatient unit chief for Geriatric Psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. She was also the director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic at the Bronx Veterans Administration Hospital. She is fellowship-trained in the psychiatric treatment of older adults, and is sub-specialty board-certified.

Providence Behavioral Health Hospital offers inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services and alcohol and drug treatment programs for children, adolescents, and adults.
