Lecture Slated on Nutrition During Cancer Treatment

WEST SPRINGFIELD — Rachel Sapelli, MS, RD, LDN, will present a lecture entitled Nutrition During Cancer Treatment at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 at CHD Cancer House of Hope, 1999 Westfield Street (Rte. 20) in West Springfield. A smoothie-making demonstration will follow the lecture.

Sapelli, a registered dietitian and nutritionist with a master’s degree in nutrition and health promotion, is the oncology dietitian at the Sister Caritas Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center. She completed her education and training through Simmons College, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Sapelli’s presentation is part of the Cancer Education Series presented by the Caritas Center. Advanced registration is requested and the lecture is free and open to all. To register, please call CHD Cancer House of Hope at (413) 733-1858.

Joe Kane, Cancer House of Hope program director, expressed his gratitude to the Sister Caritas Cancer Center for sharing their expertise through the lecture series. About this latest lecture, Kane remarked, “getting proper nutrition during cancer treatment can be a challenging and sometimes overlooked necessity. I hope people can take advantage of this interactive and fun presentation by Rachel, who is a knowledgeable and nurturing dietitian.”
