Pediatrician Curran Named To Honor Roll At Berkshire Medical Center

PITTSFIELD — The name of Joel D. Curran, MD will be placed on the Berkshire Medical Center Honor Roll, joining a list of 17 previous honorees who were all singled out for their exceptional commitment to the medical profession.
Curran, a pediatrician, practiced medicine in Pittsfield for 36 years before retiring in July of 2000, and was previously the chief of Pediatrics at BMC. In addition, he served on the Board of Trustees of BMC and on the Board of Directors of the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Assoc.

He was a member of the BMC medical staff from 1964 to 2000.

Curran was formally recognized at the Physician Appreciation Dinner, held earlier this month at the Country Club of Pittsfield, an event that pays tribute to the medical staff of BMC and Fairview Hospital.

In recognizing Curran’s accomplishments, Philip Volastro, MD, chief of staff at BMC, said, “He was always steadfast in his commitment, always focused on the issues, and was a positive force and someone you were happy to have on your team.”
