Mills Named Chief Medical Officer At Jewish Geriatric Services

LONGMEADOW — Jewish Geriatric Services, Inc. (JGS) announced that Charles S. Mills, M.D., F.A.C.P., has been named the system’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Mills brings to JGS over 20 years of leadership experience in the medical field, with an emphasis on geriatric treatment and care.

 

In his new role, Mills will assume responsibility as medical director for the Julian J. Leavitt Family Jewish Nursing Home and Spectrum Home Health Care, two of the programs operated by JGS subsidiaries on its Longmeadow campus. Additionally, he will serve as CMO for the entire JGS system, which also includes Ruth’s House — An Assisted Living Residence, Wernick Adult Day Health Care Center, Genesis House and JGS Family Medical Care. Along with his aforementioned duties, Mills

ill also be seeing patients and maintaining his own practice based out of the JGS Family Medical Care office.

Throughout his career, Mills has worked as a primary care physician focused on adult medicine and has held a variety of physician leadership roles within the healthcare field. Prior to joining JGS, he served as Medical Director of Geriatrix Inc., a disease-management firm that consults with health plans in the area of geriatric care, and as the regional medical director of United Health Care, a national health care plan. In addition, Mills has held positions at Fallon Clinic in Worcester, where he was director of Subacute Care and associate director, of the Division of Geriatrics, as well as the South Boston Community Health Center, where he served as medical director.

Mills received his M.D. from the Tufts University School of Medicine and his A.B. from Harvard University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American College of Physician Exec-utives.
