Program Slated on ‘Chair Yoga’

PITTSFIELD — On Jan. 8 at 10:45 a.m., Linda Novick, MFA, will lead “Chair Yoga: Easy Yoga for Flexibility, Mobility, and Peace of Mind.” This free program at Knesset Israel, 16 Colt Road in Pittsfield, is part of the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires’ Connecting With Community series.

“Chair Yoga is appropriate for people of all levels of mobility,” said Novick. “It is a series of breathing and stretching exercises done in a chair, which increases mobility of the joints, flexibility, strength and stamina. Yoga is good for all bodies. Beginners are welcome.”

Novick has been teaching yoga since 1997, and lately has been focusing on easy yoga for elders. She taught on staff at Kripalu Center for 7 years, and is now a regular presenter, offering programs that combine painting and yoga. She’s the author of the book, The Painting Path: Embodying Spiritual Discovery through Yoga, Brush and Color.

For more information, call the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires at (413) 442-4360, ext. 10.
